This page provides some general information applicable to all our sunglasses. If you want to learn more about the background of our sunglasses or are still unsure about placing your first order, please read this page carefully.
MATERIALS
All plastic sunglasses are made from polycarbonate. In most cases, this is recycled material that is given a new life as our sunglasses. The exact composition of each product can be found on the product pages.
All metal sunglasses are made from copper or stainless steel. A special coating is used for the shiny finish, allowing nickel-free production. Naturally, the sunglasses are tested for this.
All lenses are made from polycarbonate. The lenses undergo a so-called ‘drop-the-ball test’ and are proven impact resistant, which is a requirement of the FDA in the United States.
PACKAGING
All sunglasses are individually packed in a transparent polybag. Sunglasses made from recycled material are also delivered in a recycled polybag.
Attached to the sunglasses is a booklet tied with a string, containing legally required information about UV protection and usage. Each product has a unique barcode printed behind the booklet. The booklet can easily be removed by cutting it off. The brand name Solo Solis is not visible on the sunglasses or packaging. However, we do provide small, separate hangtags with our brand name, which you may use at your discretion.
The outside of the temples is not printed. On the inside of the left temple you will find CE UV400 CAT.3 and our article number without NDL, for example 365.

PRODUCTION
All factories we work with are located in China and are BSCI approved. This means working conditions such as safety, working hours, child labor, wages, etc., are monitored. Much has changed in China in recent years, with increasingly strict environmental regulations enforced by the government.
The factories we collaborate with possess all quality documentation, such as CE (Europe) and FDA (United States). For regulatory authorities, it is sufficient to refer to our Declaration of Conformity.
UV PROTECTION
All sunglasses offer 100% UV400 protection. Each production run is tested to determine the correct UV category. Our sunglasses provide the same level of UV protection as expensive branded sunglasses.
Most lenses fall into category 3, suitable for very bright sunlight. However, our collection also includes category 2 and category 1 lenses. These are the lighter colored lenses or those with an ocean effect. These cannot be made in category 3 as they would become too dark. Categories 2 and 1 still provide protection against sunlight. The relevant UV category is indicated on the product pages. There are no certificates for UV protection. For regulatory authorities, it is sufficient to refer to our Declaration of Conformity.
